¡Bienvenidos!
Welcome to the 7th grade Cultural Explorations class! I am so excited to have you here!
We will be exploring different aspects of cultures of the world...starting with some Spanish-speaking cultures such as Spain and Mexico. This means that we will learn a little about their geography, history, music, literature, art, foods, and more! In the process of this, we will also pick up a bit of Spanish language skills, which will prepare us for studying Spanish later in high school.
To get in the spirit of this, students are getting a Spanish name! They will use this name and address each other in Spanish at all times. In fact, the first homework assignment is to make an introduction to three people outside of class.
Students are also becoming familiar with the classroom rules and procedures, as well as the Spanish alfabeto and spelling. They are excited to discover how easy it is to spell and sight read in Spanish, especially compared to English!
We will be learning as much as we can for the next twelve weeks or so, and I am thrilled at how well the students are starting off our time together!
